Who We Are
Palette Kitchen is currently operated by its founding team. We expect to update these Terms with the name and address of the incorporated legal entity after Palette Kitchen forms as a California-based C-Corp. Until then, references to "Palette Kitchen," "we," "us," and "our" mean the Palette Kitchen founding team operating the service.

Acceptance
These Terms apply when you access or use the Palette Kitchen iOS app, palette.kitchen, quiz.palette.kitchen, the waitlist, the quiz, support, and related services. By using Palette, creating an account, joining the waitlist, submitting the quiz, or purchasing a subscription, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree, do not use Palette.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Palette. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use Palette only with permission from a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms. Do not use Palette if applicable law prohibits you from doing so.
Accounts and Apple Sign-In
Some features require an account. You agree to provide accurate information, keep your account information current, and keep your device and account secure. Palette uses Sign in with Apple and backend tokens to authenticate the app. You are responsible for activity under your account unless the activity results from our failure to use reasonable security measures.
You may delete your account using in-app controls where available or by contacting us. Account deletion may remove or anonymize certain data, but some information may be retained as described in the Privacy Policy for legal, safety, backup, tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, or dispute reasons.
iOS App and App Store Terms
Palette is iOS-only for now. If you download Palette through Apple's App Store or TestFlight, Apple may require additional terms, including Apple's standard licensed application terms and App Store rules. Apple is not responsible for providing Palette support except as required by applicable law or Apple's own terms. Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms for App Store-distributed copies of Palette and may enforce these Terms where applicable.
Cooking, Nutrition, and Safety
Palette provides recipe ideas, cooking guidance, nutrition estimates, grocery organization, and related information for general informational and personal-use purposes. Palette is not a doctor, dietitian, allergist, food-safety authority, or emergency service.
- Always verify ingredients, allergens, labels, quantities, cooking temperatures, food-storage instructions, and nutrition information yourself.
- Do not rely on Palette for medical, allergy, nutrition, pregnancy, pediatric, religious, or other regulated dietary decisions.
- AI-generated recipes and imported recipes may be incomplete, inaccurate, unsafe, or unsuitable for your circumstances.
- Palette may try to respect allergens and dietary preferences, but it cannot guarantee that a recipe, ingredient, store product, restaurant item, or user-submitted dish is safe for you.
- You are responsible for safe food handling, avoiding cross-contamination, and deciding whether a recipe is appropriate.
AI Features and Chef Memory
Palette uses AI to generate recipes, extract recipes from links, parse ingredients, estimate nutrition, explain cooking terms, modify recipes, power chat, and remember useful cooking preferences. AI output can be wrong, incomplete, biased, delayed, unavailable, or inconsistent.
Chef Memory and personalization features are intended to make Palette more useful, but they do not guarantee accuracy or safety. You are responsible for reviewing, correcting, pausing, deleting, or resetting memory where app controls are available.
You may not use Palette to generate or distribute content that is unlawful, unsafe, abusive, deceptive, infringing, or intended to harm people, evade safety systems, or violate these Terms.
Your Content
"Your Content" includes anything you submit, upload, import, create, save, post, comment, report, or send through Palette, including photos, captions, recipes, chat messages, feedback, profile details, and imported links.
You keep ownership of Your Content. You grant Palette a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, process, modify, create derivative works from, display, distribute, and otherwise use Your Content as needed to provide, operate, secure, moderate, and improve Palette. This license includes the right to process Your Content with service providers and AI/model providers as described in the Privacy Policy.
If you post content publicly or submit content for public sharing, you also grant Palette permission to display, redistribute, and promote that public content in connection with Palette. Private chat, memory, support, feedback, and account content is not treated as public just because this license lets us process it to operate the service.
You represent that you have all rights needed to provide Your Content and that Your Content does not violate law, these Terms, another person's rights, or any third-party platform's terms. Do not upload confidential information or content you do not want other users to see if you post it in public or social areas.
Copyright and IP Complaints
If you believe content on Palette infringes your copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights, contact us at hello@palette.kitchen with enough detail for us to identify the content and evaluate the claim. We may remove or restrict content and may suspend repeat infringers.
Social Features
Palette includes social discovery features such as profiles, posts, photos, captions, comments, likes, follows, reports, blocks, and story activity. Content you post publicly or share socially may be visible to other users and may be copied or saved by them. We cannot control what other users do with content you choose to make public.
You agree to be respectful and lawful when using social features. We may remove content, restrict visibility, limit features, suspend accounts, or take other action if we believe content or behavior violates these Terms, creates risk, infringes rights, or harms the community.
Imported Recipes and Third-Party Content
Palette may let you paste links from recipe websites or supported social platforms. You are responsible for making sure your use of imported content is lawful and complies with any third-party terms. Palette may not be able to extract every recipe, and extracted recipes may differ from the original source.
Third-party websites, platforms, products, and services are not operated by Palette. Their terms and privacy policies apply to your use of them.
Subscriptions and Payments
Palette may offer free and paid features. Palette Pro is currently planned at $5.99 per month where available, but pricing, taxes, trials, promotional offers, currencies, and feature limits may vary by region, platform, account, or launch phase.
In-app purchases and subscriptions are processed through Apple and managed with RevenueCat. Apple handles billing, payment methods, cancellation, renewal, and refunds according to Apple's terms. Unless canceled through your Apple account settings before renewal, subscriptions may renew automatically. Palette cannot guarantee Apple will grant a refund.
We may change free limits, Pro features, quotas, pricing, or subscription availability over time. If a change materially affects an active paid subscription, we will provide notice where required.
Waitlist, Quiz, and Early Access
Waitlist positions, referrals, quiz results, access codes, beta access, launch timing, and early-access eligibility are not guaranteed. We may change, pause, revoke, or end waitlist, referral, beta, or early-access programs at any time.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use Palette for unlawful, harmful, abusive, harassing, hateful, deceptive, exploitative, or infringing activity.
- Upload or share content that violates rights, privacy, safety, law, platform rules, or community integrity.
- Use Palette for emergency, medical, allergy-critical, or professional nutrition decisions.
- Attempt to bypass quotas, subscriptions, moderation, security, or access controls.
- Reverse engineer, scrape, crawl, copy, resell, or misuse Palette except as allowed by law.
- Interfere with Palette's systems, providers, users, data, or network.
- Submit malware, spam, automated requests, credential attacks, or misleading reports.
- Use AI features to produce content that is unsafe, illegal, infringing, or designed to evade safeguards.
Export Controls and Sanctions
You may not use Palette if you are barred from using the service under applicable sanctions, export-control laws, or other trade restrictions. You may not use Palette in a way that would cause us, Apple, or our providers to violate those rules.
Moderation and Enforcement
We may use human review, automated systems, provider tools, image moderation, reports, blocks, audit logs, and other signals to enforce these Terms. We may remove content, label content, restrict distribution, suspend or terminate accounts, preserve information, or report activity to authorities when appropriate.
We are not obligated to monitor every action or piece of content, and we do not guarantee that harmful or inaccurate content will always be removed before you see it.
Palette Property
Palette, including the app, website, design, branding, software, code, icons, copy, systems, and non-user content, is owned by Palette Kitchen or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms give you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Palette as intended. No rights are granted except as expressly stated.
Feedback
If you send feedback, ideas, feature requests, bug reports, screenshots, or suggestions, you grant Palette the right to use them without restriction or compensation. This helps us improve the product and support users.
Third-Party Services
Palette depends on third-party services for app distribution, authentication, purchases, subscriptions, hosting, databases, file storage, analytics, crash reporting, AI/model routing, AI observability, recipe import, grocery links, moderation, support workflows, email, and other operations. These providers may change over time. Palette is not responsible for third-party services, content, availability, decisions, or terms.
Changes to Palette
Palette is evolving. We may add, remove, limit, rename, redesign, or discontinue features at any time. We may suspend or stop operating all or part of Palette, including beta or waitlist features, with or without notice unless law requires otherwise.
Termination
You may stop using Palette at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if we believe you violated these Terms, created risk, infringed rights, caused harm, failed to pay for paid features, or used Palette in a way that threatens the service or other users. Termination does not limit any rights or obligations that by their nature should survive, including ownership, licenses, disclaimers, limits of liability, indemnity, and dispute terms.
Disclaimers
Palette is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent allowed by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, reliability, security, and error-free operation.
We do not guarantee that recipes, AI outputs, nutrition estimates, allergen filtering, grocery items, social content, import results, cooking steps, or recommendations will be accurate, safe, complete, or suitable for you.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, Palette Kitchen and its founders, team members, affiliates, service providers, licensors, and partners will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, lost goodwill, service interruption, personal injury, food-related harm, allergy events, or other damages arising from or related to your use of Palette.
To the maximum extent allowed by law, our total liability for all claims relating to Palette will be limited to the greater of the amount you paid to Palette for the service giving rise to the claim in the three months before the claim or $100.
Indemnity
To the maximum extent allowed by law, you agree to indemnify and hold Palette Kitchen and its founders, team members, affiliates, service providers, licensors, and partners harmless from claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising from your use of Palette, Your Content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of law or another person's rights.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of California and applicable United States federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where consumer protection law in your location requires otherwise.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as Palette changes, as our provider list changes, when our legal entity is formed, or for legal or operational reasons. If changes are material, we will provide notice through the app, website, email, or another reasonable method. Continued use of Palette after changes become effective means you accept the updated Terms.
